“You Are The Lord, You Alone”
(Nehemiah 9:6)

“You are the Lord, You alone.”
You with the power to change heart of stone.
You who set sun and moon with tremendous might.
You who shatter darkness with piercing light.

“You have set your glory” above the earth.
You have shown mercy through a Savior's birth
. I consider “the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,”
as I gaze in wide wonder up into space.

“What is man that You are mindful of him?”
With his passions and lusts, spurred by whim
. But You know the value of my pour soul's worth
, so I shout, “How majestic is Your name in all the earth!”

“I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart.”
And I will ask You for strength to do my part
. I will give ear to Your words and every behest.
For “the Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed.”

The righteous need not fear what they will do.
For “those who know Your name put their trust in You.”
But I fear for those who spurn and mock my Lord.
For “if a man will not repent, God will whet His sword.”

“For the Lord is righteous; He loves righteous deeds.”
So give me courage to spread Your word, planting the seeds.
Refreshed and strong, each morning I awaken.
“Because He is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.”
